MyOpenMath is an online course management and assessment system for mathematics and other quantitative fields. MyOpenMath’s focus is providing rich algorithmically generated assessment to support the use of free, open textbooks like the ones listed on OpenTextBookStore.com.

Questions and pre-built courses are all created by faculty in the user community and shared with others in the spirit of openness. This is a low-cost textbook available from FlatWorld Knowledge for introducing microeconomics. The authors have written both a microeconomics and macroeconomics textbook and use integrating themes to present economics so that students realize that it is a unified discipline and not an array of seemingly unrelated topics. The integrating theme for microeconomics is the marginal decision rule, a simple approach to choices that maximize the value of some objective. Following its presentation in an early microeconomics chapter, the marginal decision rule becomes an integrating device throughout the discussion of microeconomics. Instead of a hodgepodge of rules for different market conditions, they give a single rule that can be applied within any market setting.

Xronos is a powerful online learning platform, currently used at UF in the math department. Xronos is based on Ximera, a similar system used at Ohio State University for their Calculus sequence, as well as several other universities around the country.

Precalculus 2e provides a comprehensive exploration of mathematical principles and meets scope and sequence requirements for a typical precalculus course. The text proceeds from functions through trigonometry and ends with an introduction to calculus. The modular approach and the richness of content ensure that the book addresses the needs of a variety of courses. Precalculus 2e offers a wealth of examples with detailed, conceptual explanations, building a strong foundation in the material before asking students to apply what they’ve learned. There are 4 or so chapters on trigonometry.

Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
